Advantages of Being a Photographer

The advantages of being a photographer are many. The hours are as flexible as you want them to be, yet at the same time - demanding of your skills. You get to be creative with the way you take your photos from lighting to the angles at which you take the pictures.

You have many different types of photography to choose from (as we list above) and maybe you'll have more than one area of photography you specialize in. If you want to be a jet-setter - maybe we'll see your photos on the cover of a magazine. Maybe we'll see your picture in the magazine schmoozing with the supermodels.

You have the opportunity to record precious memories that others will treasure for years, that they will pass on to the next generation to enjoy and cherish.

The best advantage - you're earning a living doing what you have a passion for and a rewarding photography career.

What is Photography?

Photography for some is a way of stepping back and looking at places and people in a whole new way. A moment caught in time to reflect back on; the emotions, the place, a recorded history

Photography is a vision which allows you to project your ideas for others to see and enjoy; to study photography. This is part of what makes you a good photographer.

Sometimes we walk right past something and not give it a second thought, not quite the shot you want but then you turn around and there it is - the perfect shot.

Photography is using your imagination to envision what the final results will be and make it happen with the tools you have available.

Photography is an experiment with light, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, composition.

If you are just starting out and excited and passion-filled to make great photography, you'll soon realize it's not about your camera or how much you spend or even how much camera equipment you have to get a good picture.

You will soon understand without seeing in your minds eye the end result, you will always fall short of your expectations.

There are some rules of photography; some are listed on the site, but don't be afraid to step outside the box, as stated above it's an experiment - just add a dash of you in there too.

What does photography mean to you.

Depending on the person; whether a professional photographer, novice, or enthusiast, photography can mean many different things. For some taking pictures is a release to get away from the everyday world, for others it's a way of expressing their creative side by taking a picture or pictures and projecting ideas for making art to share with others.

For some photography may have started as a hobby that turned professional.  For some it's a way of de-stressing from their day job and others will tell you they want it to remain a hobby to keep it free and fun or how someone wants to tell a story.

Photography can be a therapy session the way a visit to the spa can provide an hour or so of relaxation.

Can anyone really answer the question "what does photography mean to you?" with 100% certainty? Ask another person and you'll get another answer as photography has many meanings depending on the individual you ask.

In this time of digital photography, anyone can access this particular form of art. You don't have to spend alot as digital point-and-shoot cameras can be quite good and not break the bank. It's a good place to start for a good value and offers a simplicity for teaching yourself about photography. As your skills grow, maybe your camera will to.

What types of photography are there.

Many of us enjoy the art of photography. Some of us like to focus on more specific types of photography. Below are listed various types of photography you might like to try.
