Digital Photography

Why Digital Photography.

Digital photography has quickly becoming the preferred way to take pictures.

If you are in the market for a new camera, consider the following advantages of digital photography.

Advantages of Digital Photography.

In the long run, owning a digital camera is less expensive. All photos are recorded on a memory card and then you can download the pictures straight to your computer. You can email or burn to CD/DVD unlimited copies of the same picture to friends and relatives without spending a penny.

A digital camera is convenient, user friendly, and some are very portable fitting easily and safely into a coat pocket, purse, and easy to carry around.

You can see the pictures you've taken as soon as your done. Most digital cameras allow you to view your photos immediately - instant feedback - now that is nice. There is no waiting and worrying about whether or not that “perfect shot” turned out.

You can take a picture of the new baby and immediately download it to your computer and share your good news with friends and relatives. There’s no need for anxious grandparents to wait days or even weeks for a picture.

You can print your photos the same day you've taken them. Either at home on your own printer or through a store that offers photo services. If you know enough about photo editing software you can modify and edit your photos anytime.

Features of Digital Cameras.

Not only are digital cameras fairly easy to use today, most offer some nice features for both point-and-shoot and DSLR cameras.

Here are a some features that are offered:

Image Stabilization:

One nice feature offered with most digital cameras now-a-days is image stabilization.

Whether it's from your subject moving or a shaky hand (which can happen especially if you've been carrying your camera around all day) or a slow shutter speed, image stabilization works to help keep your photos sharp.

Face Detection:

My parents finally went digital, they don't know a lot about it or even understand much of it, but one thing they do get is to watch where those little squares show up when depressing the shutter button.

If those little square are focusing on the faces they feel confident that at least the most important part of a family shot is in focus. The smiling faces.

Video:

Most digital cameras today have a way of recording video. Depending on the camera - depends on how long you can shoot the video.

LCD Screen:

This allows you to see an accurate image of what your photo will look like. You can review your photos and delete what you don't want.

This is a nice feature to have, but be careful as this will use up battery power at a faster rate.

Self-Timer:

This allows the photographer to occasionally be in the photo.

All you need is a tripod for your camera and your set.

These are just a few of the advantages of digital photography. It is definitely worth considering as you search for your next new digital camera.
