Make Money Using Your Digital Camera

Have you ever wanted to find a way to bring extra money into your household-yet don’t have a lot of time to spend on a full-time endeavor?

The solution is as close as the digital camera sitting on your shelf. The following suggestions are only a few of the many ways you can make money in your spare time with your digital camera.

Types of Photography.

Pet Photography.

Most pet owners won't struggle to take a photograph with their pet all by themselves.

You and your camera can be the one who makes it easy and possible for them to have a special photo with their pet.

Not only can you charge for the service and your time, but you can offer the photograph in it's digital form or as a print that you can mail to them.

If they choose a printed photo from you, you can either print it from your own photo printer or by a photo processing service.

Graduation Photography.

Graduation day is sometimes referred to as Degree Day and there are quite a few graduation photos you can do.

Here is a list of graduation photography you can provide:

  • Preschool
  • Elementry
  • Middle School
  • High School
  • College

Graduations offer dozens, if not hundreds of opportunities to capture a significant moment in someone's life.

If the family members of the graduate don't have as good a camera as yourself - you'll have even greater opportunities at getting the shots they can't.

Graduation Photo Shoot Locations:

I like to match the location of the photo shoot with the subjects hobbies, personality, or their favorite sport.

I've found trains with graffiti as backgrounds, junkie old cars, used the football field as a background, my yard. The ideas for photo shoot locations don't have to be limited to a studio.

Family Postcard Photography.

You can offer your services to families that want their picture taken and put on a postcard.

Holiday family postcards is just one of the special moments that can be used to send extended family and friends their greetings.

Family Postcard Photo Shoot Locations:

City centers will usually dress up the town for the holidays, you can meet the family for the photo shoot then do some shopping afterwards.

Photo Novelty Items.

You can take photographs of people that want the pictures of themselves or their loved ones, pets, etc. imprinted on coffee mugs, mouse pads, key chains, tee-shirts, and many other items.

Newborn Photography Services.

Parents of newborns are some of the busiest people I know.

Advertise your services on an on-call basis so that you can take informal snapshots for the growing family either before they leave the hospital, or after they get home and anytime in between.

You could even offer your services to create a photo birth announcements.

This way the parents have one less thing to try and figure out and worry about.

Pregnancy Photography.

What a beautiful way to capture the love between a couple, a new mother and her unborn child, to celebrate life.

You can capture moments of the pregnancy with the families using your skills as a photographer.

Here you have the opportunity of creating intimate and unique portrait settings the couple will have for a lifetime.

Viewing your Client Photos.

I always like to look at the photos I've taken prior to the families. I would always recommend this even though at times you or the client may want to view a picture via the LCD display.

This way you can go through all of them (and if your like me, that's alot) and take out any of the photos that might be blurry, eyes closed or looking down, a last minute head turn, just whatever pictures might not be a good look your client doesn't need to view.

After all - your providing your services because you are the professional photographer.

If this sounds like something you would like to pursue and you are thinking of purchasing a more substantial digital camera, here are a couple online stores to check out.

  • B and H photo has many Canon, Nikon, Sony, and many more digital cameras from compact point-and-shoot to digital SLR cameras.
  • Kodak offers easy to use digital cameras that are sleek and stylish in a variety of colors.
