Multimedia Storage Device
Multimedia Storage Device
Are you planning a vacation or maybe going camping for a weekend or a weekend sporting event? Taking your camera along for the ride so you can get some awesome pictures?
Now maybe you’re wondering what your best options are for storing your photos. Well, you should always bring extra memory cards but what happens if you loose one or you drop one in a mud puddle or heaven forbid – it’s corrupt.
If you’re traveling or camping light you probably won’t want to cart around a laptop, so what another option?
Photo Viewers and Storage Devices:
Take a look at some multimedia storage devices and photo viewers. They come with various sized hard drives, you have the ability to view images, and they will have slots for your memory card for transferring images.
Here are some brand names; at least at the time of this writing.
- Epson Photo Storage Devices – download and save your photos via compact flash or SD memory cards.
- Wolverine Multimedia Storage Device – download your photos via 1 of 7 card readers.
- Archos Media Tablet – for transferring photos this does require the use of the Mini-Dock.
- HyperDrive Portable Storage Device – they offer a variety of hard drive space and accepts various memory card types.
Things to Consider:
If you only have one memory card and you’re transferring photos off the card to the storage device so you can reuse the memory card, you are still left with only one copy of photos. As soon as you get home, or even somewhere that has computer access, make a copy of your photos.
Buy a storage case for your unit to protect it from the elements and other possible damages.
The Final Outcome:
Overall, the option will be up to you and what will suit your needs and what you can afford.
