Shutterfly Online Photo Processing Review:

Once a free membership account with Shutterfly has been created (which is a snap to do) you're ready to start uploading pictures for printing or sharing with friends and family.

By clicking on the upload button, just choose the files Shutterfly's online photo service will be printing. When this process has been completed, simply click the start button and you're half way there.

Ordering Prints Online from Shutterfly.

As is the case with most online photo processing services, there is the option to edit your photos. Editing consists of adding borders, cropping a picture, fixing red eye, and rotating them if necessary.

At this point in the process there is also the option to order cards, photo books, and other specialty services. These services can also be done any time during access to your account.

Most photo processing services default to print sizes of 4 x 6 printed on glossy photo paper. Part of this step is to choose additional sizes, change the original size, select a different paper type, all of which is very intuitive to do.

You can also add additional mailing address. If you have family or friends living out-of-state, just select their address and the photos will be mailed to them; and a nice little feature for mailing to out-of-towners is the ability to write a note that will be shipped with the photos at no extra cost to you.

If you choose not to have your photos mailed to you, there is an option to pick them up at a local Target store.

After selecting the photos to have printed and any additional features it's time to add our shopping cart. If any pop up windows - pop up - read them carefully as you don't want to accept additional items you don't really need and that you may be paying for later.

Pros.

The checkout process is very easy to navigate, each individual picture is shown with the sizes you ordered (we typically go with the default paper type and photo size). At this point you can add or delete items from your cart then update your cart. We thought it was very user friendly.

If you have a Target near you, it's worth the drive to pick up your photos. If your photos are being mailed you will pay a small fee for shipping. You will still have to pay for your photos online (after ordering your photos) but you won't have to worry about the possibility of them being damaged. Which we have had no problems with that happening from any of our online orders that shipped to our home.

Cons.

I understand all companies want to provide you services you may not have thought of (and you may find you'd really like to have whatever they are offering), but I personally don't like the pop up windows with an offer for a larger print or a photo book, etc. Be sure to read everything - as I said you may want what they are offering. If not, there will be a "no thanks" link at the bottom of the offer and then on with the checkout process.

Shutterfly Online Service Results.

When placing our online order with Shutterfly we selected a 3 - 7 day shipping period. We received a email two days later letting us know our photos were being shipped.

We received our photos in the mail within the 3 - 7 day time frame. The packaging was good and the pictures were great. Nice colors, bright and clear, just as we had ordered them. As with the other reviews, we would use the Shutterfly Online Photo Processing Services again.
